SEWING CIRCLE

Sewing Circle is made up of a group of talented individuals who get together to work on personal work, community projects, and shared workshops. This gathering provides opportunities for both beginner and seasoned quilters as we socialize, challenge, and support each other while we work our way through various quilting projects. Our community projects focus on the construction of "Duggie Snugglers", Quilts of Valour, Victoria Quilts, decorations for our donated Christmas tree to the Festival of Trees, and other requests from the community. Our "sit and sew" days and workshops projects vary from year to year.

We meet at the Wray House in Kawartha Settlers’ Village from 10-3, Monday and Wednesday's, May 1st until October 31st. The back room of this beautiful log home is set up for our group sewing. The natural light and the electrical lighting seems to have been designed for our needs. We bring our lunch and stay for the day! We have use of the washroom facilities and the kitchen. On colder days, the furnace and our high level of energy keeps us warm. On warmer days the excellent ventilation and our flexibility to adjust our hours, maintains our comfort. Our library, located in a beautiful china cabinet in the dining room is a wonderful resource centre. We have cutting boards and rulers, irons and ironing boards, donated fabric, some sewing supplies, and two basic sewing machines for your use. Please come out and join us and bring your personal sewing machine and preferred sewing supplies.

2025 Summer Sewing Circle

June - Stack and Whack workshops with Louise M

July - Paper Piecing with Linda L

Linda and her Sister Kathy taught a 2 day introductory to Paper Piecing Folded Stars workshop.  Everyone completed one, Nancy even added two side borders and made a placemat.  Judy and Marilyn have plans to make more stars to incorporate into tablerunners. Hopefully Bonnie and Sylvia will bring their completed projects to show off as well.

July -- Estate Destash

Settlers Village Quilters Quilt Guild was presented with the contents of Iris Mansson's fabric and notions stash.  Her Daugher Kristina advised that Iris lived a life to create and was supporter of the Settlers Village.

Many came out to enjoy some stash enhancement; some still remains upstairs at the Wray house, so please drop by if you would like to make a charity quilt or need some test fabric for an block or pattern you are working on.
